How to Install Your Music on Hold System:

Step 1. Plug the power cable into the digital repeater
Step 2. Plug an audio cable into the digital repeater
Step 3. Plug the other end of that audio cable into your phone system
Step 4. Insert the media
Step 5. Adjust the volume

All models:

Step 1: Plug in the power cable

Plug in the power module (wall wart) on your digital repeater.

Step 2: Plug an audio cable into the digital repeater

Plug the audio cable into the 8 OHM port on the digital repeater. Every digital repeater we send out comes with two audio cables; one is a mini-to-RCA, the other is an RCA-to-RCA. Choose the cable with one end that matches music on hold input of your phone system.

If you are replacing a radio or CD player, and you were using the headphone output on that device, you won't need our cables. Just snap the included mini-to-RCA barrel adapter onto the end of your current audio cable (the one that was plugged into the radio or CD player.

NOTE: The mini jack end of the barrel adpter has a very tight fit. It may feel like it's in all the way, but if you can see any of the plug it's not fully seated. See illustration to the left

Step 3: Plug the audio cable into the phone system

Locate the music on hold (MOH) input on your phone system (may be labeled simply "Music"). It should look either like the RCA jacks on the side of the digital repeater or like a headphone jack on a boombox.

Plug the audio wire into the MOH port on the phone system. If you do not have a "business phone system" - a system with a central sorting unit, usually located in a closet or back room - then you probably have office phones purchased "off the shelf" and will need an adapter. We have a list of many makes and models for which we have adapters. View our list of adapters.

If you see something that looks like this, stop and and call a professional phone technician.

Step 4: Insert the media

Insert the media that came with the digital repeater. USB1100: a USB Flash memory drive; PD324: a floppy disc, press the "Load" button after inserting the disc; RU2700; the RU2700 comes preloaded with your program.

You should see green LED lights; the RU2700 has only a red power LED.

Step 5: Adjust the volume

Call your office and have the call placed on hold. Adjust the volume. The music on hold program should never be louder than a voice on the other end of the line, but should not be much softer either.
